Our Teaching Style
To build the children and adults self-esteem and confidence in a safe and healthy, fun environment.
A great teacher is a student of his or her own teaching. I have learned something from every student I have interacted with and it has allowed me to become a better teacher and person. Every student is a teacher in their own right. Each student, new or a veteran, has strengths and weaknesses. It is acknowledging their strengths and weaknesses that they teach us on a continuous basis. That is the true strength and character of the HiddenDistance Kung Fu Academy.

Teaching Children
Teamwork is the heart of HiddenDistance Kung Fu. Our students benefit from individual and team training.

We work with each child to encourage growth of self-esteem, self-confidence and self-respect. I feel that it is important for children to have interaction with all of the other children, however, also feel it is just as important for one to one training to development the variety of skills and techniques that Kung Fu has to offer.
The most wonderful thing about martial arts is that the playing field is even. When children are given an equal playing field they can excel. By being positive and understanding to a child’s strengths and weaknesses we can create an environment to learn in, that I felt was missing in a lot of my sporting activities as a child.
Through constant building of a child’s confidence we focus on any self-esteem issues they may have; we quickly change their perceptions of themselves and assist them with achieving their goals. The key aspect of the children’s program is in how we instill responsibility to the child in their training. If a child learns to take responsibility for their thoughts, decisions and actions they become disciplined. Responsibility and discipline help them achieve a healthy fit mind, body and spirit that influences their lives in and outside of the Kung Fu studio.
Having taught children for most of my martial arts career, I can say with great pride and enthusiasm that I thoroughly enjoy it. Not only am I teaching the children on a daily basis, they are teaching me as well. I feel honored with the responsibility of helping to guide my students.
